Manchester United is looking to bolster its squad in the summer transfer window and has already begun planning. The Red Devils are interested in signing a USMNT youngster who is also a target for Bayern Munich.
Manchester United Leading Chase to Sign Bayern Munich Target
Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko in the summer, but the forward has not hit the ground running at Old Trafford. He has scored just five goals in the Premier League this season, and the Red Devils have been unimpressed with the $100 million star.
They are already exploring options to add forwards in the summer and had pushed to sign Mohamed Kader Meïté from Rennes. However, the Red Devils lost out to Al-Hilal in the winter window, as the Frenchman opted to move to the Saudi Pro League.
United has since turned its attention to Nimfasha Berchimas, who has been in talks with Bayern Munich. The Athletic reported earlier this month that the Charlotte FC teenager was in discussions with the Bundesliga giants, though the two clubs had yet to agree on a deal.
Christian Falk has now told CF Bayern Insider that the German side is not aggressively pursuing the USMNT youngster, despite continuing to monitor him.
“There are plenty of Bayern scouts in the USA, and they have a partner club in Los Angeles FC. Berchimas is known to Bayern; he was involved in a training session for Bayern Munich (and also with Manchester United), but it’s not hot at the moment.”
“It’s also worth pointing out that the player hasn’t turned 18 yet. At the moment, it doesn’t seem like a move is going to happen. We have to wait and see what happens in the future, but I can’t say this is a done deal at present.”

Bayern’s hesitation to finalize a deal with the MLS club has opened the door for Manchester United to take the lead in the race. The teenager has made just three appearances for the first team and has logged 45 matches for the club’s second team.
United currently has Chido Obi, whom they signed from Arsenal. He has yet to receive significant first-team opportunities, while another young striker, Rasmus Hojlund, could be set to leave permanently after his loan spell at Napoli this season.
