Mohamed Salah has emerged as the hottest topic of discussion after he recently hinted that he is frustrated with his game time at Liverpool. He also claimed in a fiery interview that he had felt distant from Reds head coach Arne Slot in the recent past.
And now, Liverpool ECHO journalist Paul Gorst has shed light on the Reds winger’s mindset prior to his media appearance earlier on Saturday, Dec. 6. But, what did Gorst say?
Paul Gorst Reveals What Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Told Him
Earlier on Saturday, Salah was benched for the third consecutive Premier League match by Slot ahead of Liverpool’s 3-3 away draw at Leeds United. Before venting to the media, the ex-Chelsea star engaged in a brief post-match conversation with Gorst.
“He walked past and I said to him, as I do most weeks, ‘Mo, have you got two minutes?’. 99 times out of 100, it’s normally just, ‘Not today’ and a little bit of a grin. It’s a bit of a running joke with myself on the patch because he does it every week,” Gorst said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s The Wayne Rooney Show (via OneFootball).
The reporter continued, “He said to me, ‘I’m just gonna get a shower and I’ll be back’, and I wasn’t sure whether that was being sarcastic because he hadn’t played. You know, was it a bit of a dig – why would he have had a shower because he was on the bench – but I decided to wait it out and after 10 or 15 minutes he comes back and there was maybe half a dozen of us who were there ready to chat to him.”

How Will Salah’s Future at Liverpool be Affected Now?
Following his bombshell interview against Liverpool’s management, Salah has been left out of the Reds’ UEFA Champions League contest at Inter Milan. His omission from the Premier League champions’ travelling squad was decided by Reds sporting director Richard Hughes, as per The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
According to the aforementioned source, Salah was dropped from the Reds’ squad to show support for Slot. His exclusion is not intended as a punishment, and he is also not being considered as a potential sale in the January transfer window.
However, as per reputed journalist Ben Jacobs, Salah has attracted attention from a host of clubs following his recent outburst. He has emerged as a top transfer target for the likes of Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal and Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit San Diego FC.
