Inter Miami Loanee Sheds Light on Decision To Leave Lionel Messi-Led Side

An Inter Miami loanee opens up on decision to leave the Lionel Messi-led side despite being a key player for the MLS squad.

Going from a title-chasing side in the MLS to a relegation-battling European top-flight side might not be seen as a real upgrade by many footballers.

But for some soccer stars, the dream of playing in Europe leads them to give up everything and answer the call.

Inter Miami Loanee Happy With Decision To Leave Lionel Messi-Led Side

Benjamin Cremaschi made the switch to Italian side Parma in the middle of the MLS 2025 season, after they agreed a loan deal with Inter Miami. The USMNT star is now fighting towards the bottom of the table, while his parent side went on to win the MLS Cup.

He was talking to Argentine outlet Diario Olé this week, and was quizzed about the move to the Serie A side. The 20-year-old has no regrets about the loan exit, saying that it was the right step for his career. He said (via World Soccer Talk):

“I felt that I needed to take this step. I needed to try and see whether I have the level to play in a top European league. It’s a project that is very focused on young players. I feel this is the right place for me, and that I’ve been learning a lot since I arrived.”

Talking about the difference between the two leagues he has featured in this year, Cremaschi said the game was faster and more aggressive in Italy. He is learning more and is keeping his head down, working hard to get more chances with the side.

“The first thing I understood here is the speed. It’s a bit faster and also more aggressive. They focus a lot on defensive shape and attacking transitions. I need to understand all of that better and be attentive to what’s happening around me. So far, I can’t complain about anything. I just have to keep working to get the minutes and the opportunities I want. There’s a lot to learn, but I consider myself a quick learner, and I hope everything comes soon.”

The young midfielder said that he watched Inter Miami win the MLS Cup final against the Vancouver Whitecaps and added:

“I watched the match here in my apartment. It was a very exciting game. Super happy for the owners, for the coach, for all my teammates and the Academy kids. Honestly, just everyone. The staff, the entire club — it’s a huge achievement. I wish I had been there. Unfortunately, I wasn’t. I guess I’ll have to come back in the future and get another one.”

Cremaschi has played just 100 minutes for Parma this season, and only 14 minutes in the league. The Italian side has an option to sign him permanently at the end of the 2025/2026 season.
