Dominik Szoboszlai has been in fine form this season for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah hailing him as the best player in the world right now. However, the Hungarian national team manager has now revealed the midfielder’s dream club.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s Dream Destination Club Revealed
Arne Slot’s side has not had its best season so far, but Szoboszlai has been a bright spark. The Hungarian has impressed both as a midfielder and as a makeshift right-back, with fans heaping praise on him on social media each week.
Marco Rossi has left Liverpool fans stunned as the club begins talks over Szoboszlai’s new contract. The Hungarian has just over two years left on his deal, but now talk of his dream club has emerged.
Speaking to Winwin this month, Rossie revealed that Szoboszlai has long dreamed of playing for Real Madrid. He claimed that Los Blancos have been the only side the Hungarian star has wanted to play for and said (translated from Arabic to English):
“From what I’ve heard and what I know, and given the very good and direct relationship I’ve had with Dominik since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has been his dream. Dominik, ever since he began playing football, has had one dream: to play for Real Madrid.”
However, Rossi was quick to clarify that he was not hinting at the Liverpool star’s future or suggesting that he was thinking about leaving Anfield for Santiago Bernabeu. The national team manager added that he would not influence the decision in any way and said:
“I don’t know if he wants to join Real Madrid or not, but at the same time, he’s currently playing for Liverpool, a big team in the English Premier League. I don’t know if he can take this step, because it depends on his personal decision, as well as the decision of his club.”
The comments were quickly downplayed by Liverpool journalist David Lynch, who said it is normal for soccer stars to dream about a move to Real Madrid. He added that the Hungarian remains a key player at the club and will stay at Anfield beyond the season.
However, he believes public comments about interest in joining Los Blancos could play a role in contract negotiations. He added that talks could drag on for some time, as the club has not shown signs of pushing forward with the contract or panicking over Rossi’s comments.
