Manchester United failed to beat Bournemouth despite leading thrice in their recent Premier League encounter at Old Trafford. However, Manchester United ace Kobbie Mainoo’s brother decided to steal the limelight from the Red Devils’ recent performance on Monday, Dec. 15.
But who is the individual in question, and what did he do during the clash at Old Trafford?

Mainoo, 20, shot to fame after enjoying a breakout season at his boyhood club in the 2023-24 campaign. He scored five goals in 2,405 minutes of action, across 32 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, and also helped them lift the FA Cup in the aforesaid term.
However, Mainoo has fallen down his side’s pecking order over the last 12 months or so. He has started just 16 of his 40 total outings under current head coach Ruben Amorim, playing only 1,737 minutes across all competitions since November 2024.
With the January transfer window around the corner, Mainoo has reportedly drawn interest from Serie A champions Napoli of late. He could secure a loan move away from Manchester United at the end of the winter window, according to ESPN.
Following his team’s high-scoring draw against Bournemouth, Amorim was asked if the Red Devils need to bolster their defence in the future. The Red Devils head coach rubbished the suggestion and backed his defensive players to perform better soon.

“No, I think we have talent at the back, we have quality players at the back. We just need to be better as a team defending. But that is a good point, that we at last took care of the offensive side (in the summer). We are improving, but I think it’s not the same situation. We just need to work together and to improve our players because they have the quality to defend better,” Amorim replied (via Metro).
Amorim, who oversaw a transfer outlay of close to $295 million in the summer, has guided Manchester United to six clean sheets in 43 league matches. His team have registered only one shutout in 16 league games so far this campaign.
