Florian Wirtz was linked with a host of clubs in the summer before he opted to join Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. Less than a year has gone by, and his agent has already picked the next club the German should join.
Florian Wirtz’s Agent Names ‘Dream Club’ for Liverpool Star
Liverpool broke the Premier League record to sign Wirtz in the summer for a reported $156 million. His agent, Volker Struth, has now revealed that they wanted him to join Real Madrid and urged Xabi Alonso to take him when the manager was moving from Bayer Leverkusen to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Speaking to BILD, Struth said he discussed the possible transfer with the manager, who was interested, but quickly took himself out of the process, saying it would be the decision of Los Blancos president Florentino Perez. The agent went on to state that he even contacted the president and offered the German star, but no agreement was reached.

The Bundesliga side was insisting on a record fee for the club and had slapped a $200 million asking price on their prized asset. Liverpool managed to negotiate a $156 million fee, something Real Madrid was not interested in paying.
Speaking on the “Phrasenmaher” podcast, Struth said he wants to see Wirtz play for Real Madrid and hopes to secure his transfer soon. He is not planning a push this summer, but is confident that the German will do well at Anfield and earn a move to the Spanish giants in the future.
“That year, it simply wasn’t the right time due to the squad and the budget. Even Real Madrid’s coffers aren’t always overflowing. But my wish remains that Florian will play there one day. I wasn’t deeply enough involved in the offers that were on the table. My greatest wish, of course, would have been to have Florian at Real Madrid to see – and I don’t think I’m alone in that. I also think he would be in very good hands there. He’s doing quite well in Liverpool now, he’s a very young player and who knows what might happen in his career.”
Wirtz has not made the best of starts with Liverpool, as he needed 18 matches to get on the scoresheet in the Premier League. He has slowly settled in at the Anfield club and has notched four goals and two assists in his last nine matches for the Reds.
