Barcelona midfielder Pedri has cemented himself as one of the top playmakers in the world, having been part of two La Liga-winning sides at the age of 23. Evidently, he is well aware of the quality required for the Blaugrana to lift the most lucrative trophies in soccer.
And, the Spain star has suggested that one Real Madrid player would do well at Barcelona.
Pedri Names Kylian Mbappe as his Dream Barcelona Teammate
During an appearance on “El Hormiguero,” Pedri was asked to name a Los Blancos star with whom he would like to team up at his club. He replied, “Kylian Mbappe.” Pedri’s club teammate, Ferran Torres, also chimed in, “Yes, Mbappe.”
Mbappe, 27, has popped up as La Liga’s best striker since joining Real Madrid on a free switch after leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2024. He has scored a whopping 54 goals in just 57 league matches for Los Blancos so far, adding 7 assists.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner failed to guide his team to a La Liga title last season, as Pedri’s outfit won by 4 points. However, he could be a deciding factor in this campaign’s title race, as the two rival clubs are separated by just a point right now.
In other competitions, Mbappe has been equally effective for Alvaro Arbeloa’s club, scoring 28 times in 35 non-La Liga matches. The AS Monaco youth product has netted 20 times in 22 UEFA Champions League appearances for Los Merengues.
Meanwhile, Mbappe has met Pedri 11 times while representing Spain, Real Madrid, and PSG. He has been on the winning side just three times, including two wins that came as a Parisian star in 2021 and 2024. His only win against Pedri came in his club’s 2-1 triumph over Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga last October.

On the other hand, former Los Blancos midfielder Sami Khedira has suggested that Pedri’s club is too reliant on their attackers to eke out a result following a dip in form.
“Barça’s style is risky. If the ball doesn’t go in and Lamine isn’t on form, the defence can’t save them. It’s often said that titles are won by the defence. At Barça, they’ve only won by the attack. Flick is betting on a bold style that usually pays off,” he told AS.
The Blaugrana are atop the 2025-26 La Liga table with 61 points from 25 outings, and Real Madrid are in second place with 60 points from the same number of games.
