Erling Haaland Mocks Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher With ‘Loose Cannon’ Comment After Latter’s Mo Salah Outburst

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland picks between Antonio Rudiger and Jamie Carragher in a hilarious post-match conversation.

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland was ready with a cheeky answer during his post-match chat with CBS Sports Golazo. The Norwegian forward, who scored the winning goal during City’s Champions League match against Real Madrid, was asked to pick between Antonio Rudiger and Jamie Carragher.

Haaland, who is known for having a fun personality off the pitch, responded accordingly.

How Did the Conversation Between Jamie Carragher and Erling Haaland Go?

The conversation began with pundit Micah Richards asking Haaland how he was feeling, to which the City striker replied (via Goal), “I’m getting nervous with Jamie Carragher in the studio!”

As the studio burst out laughing, the former Liverpool defender Carragher responded by assuring Haaland that he does not need to be nervous.

As the conversation progressed, Haaland was asked to pick between Rudiger and Carragher, to which Haaland responded with a mock, saying, “I mean, I think I have to say Rudiger now because Carragher is a bit of a loose cannon now.”

The joke drops into context, given Carragher’s latest passionate outburst on Monday Night Football, where the former Liverpool man went on a tirade against Mohamed Salah for the latter’s explosive interview last weekend.

Despite hailing Salah as a legend, Carragher had said he would ‘go for’ the Egyptian forward should the attacker try to throw the club under the bus by thinking about himself (via Sky Sports).

No wonder Haaland popped up with his cheeky answer at the opportune moment; the Norwegian is known for being at the right place at the right time. He has been on fire this season, netting 21 goals in as many games for Manchester City. He also recently became the fastest player in the Premier League to reach 100 goals, achieving this milestone in 111 games.

What Did Salah Say And How Did Carragher Respond?

Speaking to the media in the mix zone after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds United, where Salah was an unused substitute, the Egyptian forward vented (via BBC):

“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship.”

He continued, “I don’t know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”
Salah went on to add that he supports the club and will continue to do so, but felt ‘thrown under the bus’.

Carragher did not take kindly to Salah’s words or the timing of his comments, with a rant of his own on Monday Night Football. The Sky Sports pundit said (via BBC):

“I thought it was a disgrace. Some have painted it as an emotional outburst. I don’t think it was. When Mo Salah stops in the mixed zone – which he has done four times in eight years – it is choreographed with him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position.”

Salah has since been excluded from the Liverpool squad during their trip to Inter Milan earlier this week.
