Cristiano Ronaldo has lately popped up as a hot topic of discussion following his decision to go on strike at Al-Nassr. He is reportedly unhappy about the lack of investment on his side by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), which owns Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and more.
And, the attacker has allegedly clarified that he will leave his club if his demands are not met.
Journalist Opines on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Future
During a recent interaction on ESPN Brasil, journalist Bruno Andrade stated that the former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker has offered an ultimatum to Al-Nassr.
“If Cristiano doesn’t get the guarantees he wants, he will leave Al-Nassr. The release clause in Cristiano’s contract will drop to $59 million in the summer transfer window,” the reporter said while discussing the 40-year-old striker’s current situation.
Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr as a free agent in January 2023, penned a new Al-Nassr deal last summer, extending his stay until June 2027. However, his unhappiness over the PIF’s favoritism toward Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal could force him to leave.
The Portugal forward is reportedly furious about Karim Benzema moving from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal on a permanent switch in the winter transfer window. He is said to believe that the PIF is deliberately backing Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League title race.
Ronaldo, who chose not to play in Al-Nassr’s recent 1-0 win at Al-Riyadh, is expected to be on strike until the situation is resolved. Should Al-Nassr fail to reach an agreement with the player, he could well be on his way out at the end of the ongoing 2025-26 term.

On the other hand, talkSPORT’s Saudi Correspondent Ben Jacobs has suggested the former Juventus star will be fined for recently refusing to play for his current club.
“Ronaldo’s point, and Al-Nassr fans have been protesting as well, is why Al-Hilal were given so much money to spend (by the PIF) before the Club World Cup when Al-Nassr’s portion of the pie was a little bit smaller,” the reliable journalist told talkSPORT.
Jacobs concluded, “What’s interesting is, whether it’s Benzema specific or whether there is a broader disagreement over strategy and ultimately funding, Ronaldo hasn’t been backed. He’s expected to be fined and punished for not making himself available for selection.”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has netted 18 goals in 22 total club games this season.
