‘Everything Has Been Very Easy’ — Ex-Barcelona Talent Dro Fernandez Opens Up on Life After Joining PSG

Former Barcelona player Dro Fernandez opens up about life with PSG.

Life after Barcelona is not always the best for soccer stars, as only a handful have gone on to enjoy successful careers after forcing an exit from the club. The Catalan side had one surprise name leave this year, and Dro Fernandez has opened up after his debut with his new club.

Dro Fernandez Takes Cheeky Dig at Barcelona After PSG Debut

Paris Saint-Germain stunned Barcelona in the January window by making a surprise move for Dro. The Catalan side could not do anything to stop him, as he had a low release clause and was interested in making the switch.

The Ligue 1 side wasted no time, activating the $11 million clause in his contract and signing him during the winter window. The teenager needed time to settle at his new club, having spent the majority of his youth at La Masia.

Dro finally made his PSG debut just days after the window closed, coming off the bench in a 5-0 league win over Marseille. The teenager replaced Senny Mayulu in the 75th minute and impressed in the closing stages.

Speaking to the media after the match, Dro hailed PSG coach Luis Enrique, calling him the ideal manager for his development. He added that the Spaniard was one of the key reasons behind his decision to leave Barcelona and said (per Barca Blaugranes):

“I’m making the most of the minutes I’m given, I’m in no hurry. I’m going to keep working so that things continue this way and I can play more. Everything has been very easy, to be honest. Since I arrived, it’s as if I’ve been here since the beginning of the season; I must thank everyone for this welcome.

“Playing here is incredible. I was really looking forward to coming here and discovering it. We knew that Marseille is a very difficult team, but if we did things right, they would find it difficult to trouble us at home. Yes, it was a very special match. I hope to be here for many years and have many experiences.”

Chelsea and Manchester City were also interested in signing Dro and attempted to persuade him to move to the Premier League. However, he was set on a switch to Ligue 1 and did not heed Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, ultimately forcing his move to Paris.
