MLS Transfer Rumors: $500 Million Franchise Ready To Swoop In for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah could join a MLS club following his bombshell interview about his current situation at Liverpool, as per a report.

Ever since his bombshell interview on Saturday, Dec. 6, Mohamed Salah’s immediate future at Liverpool has become a topic of discussion. The Egyptian legendary attacker has now allegedly drawn interest from a Major League Soccer (MLS) club.

But which MLS club is keen to add the Reds superstar to their squad?

San Diego FC Identify Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah as Target

With several reports claiming that Salah’s time at Liverpool is nearing its end, the former Chelsea and AS Roma star has recently become a subject of transfer interest.

According to reputed journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are assessing Salah’s situation at the team after the star claimed that he has been made to feel like a scapegoat by the club. As a result, San Diego FC have decided to add the 33-year-old to their transfer shortlist.

Salah, who is also reportedly a transfer target for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, would pop up as a crucial starter for San Diego should he depart the Reds. He would likely start beside former Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano at San Diego, whose ownership paid $500 million as an expansion fee in 2023.

Salah Frustrated With Recent Game Time at Liverpool

Earlier this Saturday, Salah was benched for the third Premier League contest in a row. He remained as an unused substitute during Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United and chose to vent his frustrations to the media afterwards.

“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling,” the Egypt international commented (via BBC).

Salah added, “This club, I will always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much and I always will. It [the situation] is not acceptable to me, to be fair. I don’t get it. I don’t think I’m the problem. I have done so much for this club. I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it. I am not bigger than anyone but I earned my position. It’s football.”
So far this season, Salah has scored five goals in 19 total appearances for Liverpool.
