Shedeur Sanders Sends Strong Message to Jerry Jeudy After Viral Crashout on Browns’ Sideline

Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders addressed the sideline crashout of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy that went viral on social media.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a mediocre performance in the Cleveland Browns’ (3-9) loss to the San Francisco 49ers (9-4).

He finished the day completing 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 149 passing yards, one passing touchdown, and no interceptions. In the 26-8 blowout loss, frustrations were understandably high on the Browns’ sideline, but none were more visibly agitated than wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Late in the game, there was an animated sideline exchange between Sanders and Jeudy that ended with Browns center Ethan Pocic moving the two apart.

Shedeur Sanders Addresses Relationship With Jerry Jeudy

Although Jeudy did not speak with reporters after the defeat, Sanders took the time to address the viral exchange with his teammate.

“This team is not going to be a microwave thing. We’re going to have sparks here and there, but it’s going to take time to be able to develop that chemistry with everybody, to be on the same page with Jerry [Jeudy],” Sanders said postgame. “Of course you want to be able to get him the ball, but you got to understand it takes time.”

In the loss to the 49ers, Jeudy had four targets and finished with three receptions for 26 yards. Sanders did, however, overthrow Jeudy on what would have been a big gain, possibly a touchdown, in the first quarter.

It’s been a rocky season for the 26-year-old, as he is the No. 87 ranked WR in PFSN’s metrics with an impact grade of 59.2. He is not even the highest-ranked wideout on his team, as that title belongs to Cedric Tillman (No. 75 among WRs).

With Sanders under center, Jeudy has yet to record more than 40 yards in a game.

Sanders continued, “I’m more of a trust person, and that’s just what it boils down to. So, we have to spend time on task with all those guys, and be able to trust and be able to see things at the same lens. A lot of time out there, I would say passing wise, we’re not seeing everything at the same or certain guys aren’t in the same spot that we seen and we practice. … Like, we just got to be comfortable and just make everything consistent.”

It’s clear Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski recognizes that Sanders needs time to become comfortable in the offense, as he was named the starter for their Week 14 game against the Tennessee Titans.
