The NFL Pro Bowl is here, and although much of the focus is on the roster, there is a star-studded coaching staff for this year. Jerry Rice will be the HC of the NFC team, and Steve Young will lead the AFC side.
Focusing on the AFC staff, they also have Michael Vick leading the offense, and for one Pro Bowl QB, Shedeur Sanders, the former star QB has been a mentor throughout his rookie season.
Shedeur Sanders Details How Michael Vick Has Shaped His Growth
Sanders was a surprise alternate pick after QB Drake Maye was removed due to the New England Patriots making the Super Bowl. The Cleveland Browns’ rookie QB did not have the best rookie year, but now he can say that, for the rest of his career, he was a Pro Bowl QB.
Since entering the draft process last season, attention has been on Sanders, and many opinions have been made about him. His rookie season was filled with ups and downs, both out of his control. Per PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, Sanders finished 46th among all QBs.
Learning from mistakes or treating everything as a lesson is smart, and one way to do so is to talk to someone who has been in the same situation. For Sanders, one person he reached out to was Vick, and when talking on the “Up and Adams Show,” he expanded on this relationship:
“I talk to him (Vick) often, and I talk to him a lot during this year, just about everything. He has always been a great resource for me. In a great way, just to have somebody to talk to.”
“If I know your experience in this area, then I want to call and get advice. How do I handle certain things? Where does my mind need to go to? How do I navigate life? Because all it is is a game of life.”

With the crazy year Sanders has had, being able to reach out to one of the legends of the game, Vick, is exceptional for the young QB’s development as a person in this league. Now, in today’s Pro Bowl game, Sanders will be coached by Vick.
