As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, one of the more curious cases remains the positioning of Shedeur Sanders among the rest of the class. While his collegiate production was impeccable, scouts remain undecided on where he lands as an NFL starter. Moreover, some have even questioned his off-the-field demeanor and cadence to be too arrogant.
Combine that with the bold stance his father and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has had throughout the process, and doubts about him continue to linger. However, at Colorado’s Pro Day, the father and son duo made their intentions clear for the NFL.
Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders Make Promise to the NFL
Ahead of the NFL Draft, Sanders remains one of the two best quarterback prospects, at least according to the major consensus. In his final year at Colorado, he totaled 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing an absurd 74% of his passes.
But, more importantly, he changed the culture at both his collegiate destinations, giving Jackson State its winningest season with 11 wins and turning a one-win Buffaloes program into a nine-win squad by the time he left.

According to his father and head coach, that is what awaits whichever franchise drafts him. “If it’s anybody built for this moment, built to go to a team that’s really not good and take it to the next level, it’s him.”

Speaking to the media, the Colorado superstar had a similar mindset, promising to deliver the goods if he just got the opportunity. “All I need is an opportunity. Simple.
“Whatever franchise wanna change they franchise, then it’s no doubt who to go with. I’ve done it over and over and over, so you’d be a fool not to pick me.”

That final line, of course, is where some of the criticism stems from, with many believing his confidence borders on arrogance.
However, the two-time Super Bowl champion doesn’t believe his son needs more preparation. “I don’t need to give him advice at this point, man, c’mon. He’s been bred for this, he’s been trained for this. He’s a darn Sanders — that comes with ridicule and ignorance and adolescence, it comes with that. But we’re built for this.”
To him, the most important aspect for a quarterback was straightforward: winning. And in that criteria, the proof is in the pudding. “Look at the last four years.”

Thanks to a viral image of Coach Prime talking to members of the Cleveland Browns front office, a potential Sanders-to-Cleveland image has become a possibility.
Even when discussing that potential move, Sanders had a similar mindset. “It don’t matter where I go. I know my change and the influence I have on society and on the culture. So, wherever I go, it’s definitely going to be improvement than what it was before I got there.”
The latest seven-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft from PFSN’s Brentley Weissman has him going to the New York Giants in a decision that has felt like a done deal for the better part of the last few months.
While there remains an outside chance he ends up elsewhere, it’s clear that the coach-quarterback duo is confident in how his NFL tenure is about to shake out.
