‘Hunter or Sanders?’ — Fans Are Buzzing After Deion Sanders’ Chat With Browns’ Brass Goes Viral

It’s rare for a head coach to have as much influence over his players’ draft journeys as Deion Sanders has with his son, Shedeur Sanders, and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. Over the past few months, Sanders has made it clear: his blessing is key for either of them to join a franchise.

But that stance seems to be softening. With teams like the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants already getting the Coach Prime stamp of approval, the Cleveland Browns had been seen as the odd ones out. That may have changed, though, as a recent meeting between the Browns’ front office and Sanders appears to have opened a new door — and fans are buzzing.

Fans Dream Up Scenarios Following Deion Sanders’ Cleveland Browns Meeting

The Browns have been doing their homework in recent weeks, trying to map out their 2025 NFL Draft strategy. Just recently, Albert Breer speculated on what that plan might look like.

Top-level officials — including owner Jimmy Haslam, executive vice president JW Johnson, and general manager Andrew Berry — recently had dinner with Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter. At the same time, head coach Kevin Stefanski reportedly met with Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

But one photo sparked even more speculation. NFL insider Josina Anderson shared an image showing members of the Browns’ leadership deep in conversation with Deion Sanders.

That image immediately sent fans into theory mode, with the most popular scenario being the Browns pursuing reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

One fan posted confidently, “Yeah Travis a Brown.” But others pointed to the team’s situation at quarterback — especially with Deshaun Watson sidelined for the entire 2025 season due to injury — and speculated that Shedeur Sanders could be Cleveland’s target instead.

“Hunter or Sanders?” one fan posted, summing up the question on everyone’s mind.

With the meeting’s timing and rising chatter in the rumor mill, there’s now real belief that one of Colorado’s superstars could land in Cleveland. “Sanders to the browns,” one fan said.

But not everyone is sold. One fan dismissed the idea and offered a more grounded prediction.

“I know it is supposed to be intriguing, but realistically I think we all know that Shedeur will be a Giant and Kirk Cousins will be a Brown before next season starts. Those were basically gimmes before FA even happened.”

Meanwhile, in his latest mock draft with PFSN, Brentley Weissman projects the Browns to select Abdul Carter out of Penn State, pairing him with Myles Garrett to form a dangerous pass-rushing duo.

“The Cleveland Browns called Myles Garrett’s bluff and secured a long-term contract with their star pass rusher. This gives the Browns some flexibility with the No. 2 overall pick. While a quarterback may be tempting, pairing Garrett with Abdul Carter is too tempting to pass up.

Carter is a freakish talent who is highly disruptive off the edge. He is still getting better as a player, and I can’t think of a player better from whom he can learn than Garrett.”
