Shedeur Sanders Loses Deion Sanders’ ‘#1 Kid’ Status As NFL Legend Shows Love to Oldest Son

Deion Sanders named Deion Sanders Jr. his '#1 Kid' in a playful social media post, updating the rotating favorite status among his NFL sons.

Most parents say they love their children equally. NFL legend Deion Sanders takes a different approach with his kids, including his son, Shedeur Sanders. The Hall of Famer compares his children unconventionally and often names a No. 1, all in good spirit, of course.

His latest post on the matter had many entertained.

Deion Sanders Jr. Claims ‘No. 1 Kid’ Title From Shedeur Sanders

Most, if not all, of Deion’s children have been his favorites over the years. When his daughter, Deiondra, gave him his first grandchild, she was his favorite child. Moreover, one would expect that with two of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, having made it to the NFL, they’d dominate the title of No. 1 kid.

However, Shedeur lost the title in Deion’s latest post, as the eldest son, Deion Jr., claimed it.

“#1 Kid! @DeionSandersJr @WellOffmedia on @YouTube Love You son. #Dad,” the legendary cornerback captioned a photo of Deion Jr. on a private jet.

This isn’t the oldest son’s first claim to the title; he had previously earned his father’s favor. The Hall of Famer’s sons are all doing very well for themselves in their respective fields.

Deion Jr. became famous when he took over as manager of the Colorado Buffaloes football team’s social media content. He got the position when his father was hired as head coach in December 2022, and he has since built a reputable media company, Well Off Media, on the opportunity.

As for the NFL pair of sons, Shedeur has been in the headlines lately for his push to claim the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback position. The second-year signal-caller was drafted in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and started out as the team’s third-string quarterback.

However, he worked his way through a weak position room to finish the season as the Browns’ QB1. The front office hasn’t pursued a major quarterback acquisition this offseason, suggesting Sanders could start the 2026 campaign under center.

He’s bound to face stiff competition from Deshaun Watson, who many believe could be one of the most talented signal-callers of his generation. The experienced star has suffered career setbacks, including back-to-back Achilles tears that sidelined him for the entire 2025 season. If he can return to his previous form, Sanders will have a tough time hanging on to that starting job.

As for his younger brother, Shilo, he was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and didn’t feature in any regular-season games. After a preseason ejection for throwing a punch, he was released as part of the final roster cuts ahead of the season.
