Week 7 of the NFL season saw the Miami Dolphins fall from grace with a disastrous 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland’s win improved them to a 2-5 overall record.
To put it bluntly, the Browns made it seem as if the Dolphins looked like a team that didn’t even care to be at Huntington Bank Field. Â It’s the latest in a series of poor performances to start the 2025 year that have Miami fans ready for some serious organizational and roster changes.
Could Shedeur Sanders See Action Sooner Rather Than Later?
After throwing multiple interceptions in the second half against the Browns, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel decided to bench quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in favor of rookie Quinn Ewers.
Ewers took to the field after Tagovailoa threw interceptions on back-to-back offensive drives. Tagovailoa was 12 of 23 for 100 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions before his benching.
But NFL writer and sports commentator Skip Bayless said he thinks the Browns should follow suit of the opposing team, because he thinks QB Shedeur Sanders is the answer to Cleveland’s problems.
“If Shedeur Sanders, with that Browns defense and the emergence of Judkins slashing and gashing, had started at QB from the start, as he should have, the Browns would be the Vanderbilt of the North,” Bayless posted on his X account.

The Browns currently have the 31st-ranked offense of the year according to PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, which also give Cleveland an overall grade of an F.
Sanders is a 23-year-old QB who was the Browns’ 2025 fifth-round pick out of Colorado. He went from a projected first-rounder and Heisman vote recipient, playing under his father at Colorado, to getting selected on day three of the draft.
In the preseason, Sanders started and saw action against the Carolina Panthers. He showed an ability to make tight-window completions. The 23-year-old played most of the contest, completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-10 Browns victory.
As previously reported, Sanders was initially the QB4 in Cleveland, but Kenny Pickett’s trade to the Las Vegas Raiders moved him up in the depth chart. Fellow signal caller Flacco’s former early Oct. benching due to turnovers and ineffectiveness may get Sanders closer to seeing the field.
Sanders currently holds the No. 2 spot behind rookie starter Dillon Gabriel. Gabriel threw for 116 yards on 13 completions across 18 attempts against Miami.
