‘Make It More Confusing for Shedeur Sanders’ — NFL World Has Mixed Reactions to Browns Drafting QB Taylen Green

The Cleveland Browns decided to use a sixth-round draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green. With Green coming on board, the Browns’ quarterback room expands to four.

Not only will Green be there, but so will Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and Deshaun Watson. Needless to say, the reactions from the NFL world about the Browns making this move drew different opinions.

Green, like Lamar Jackson, due to his athleticism, was questioned about whether he would be open to playing a different position. However, he was able to shut those speculations down and made it clear that he will play quarterback.

Trace Girouard, who calls himself Trizzy Trace, who hosts Saints Now and is a social coordinator for Chat Sports, posted on X, “Taylen Green is now the best QB in Cleveland! Congrats to the Arkansas legend”.

NFL Insider and writer John Frascella called out Browns head coach Todd Monken after news of picking Green came out. Frascella posted on X, “Pick – Browns select Taylen Green… yeah Monken, make it more confusing for Shedeur and Watson lol”.

One influencer posted on X, “So the Browns are really gonna roll out a Shedeur, Watson, Green QB room huh”. SM Highlights’ account on X put the Browns’ quarterback room in some perspective, posting on X, “Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, Deshaun Watson, Taylen Green?”

ESPN NFL Insider Dan Graziano posted on X with some interesting tidbits around how many times this pick has been traded around the NFL.

“Pick 182 has been traded SIX TIMES! It started out as a Jets pick,” Graziano wrote. “They traded it to Cleveland last summer for Jowon Briggs. The Browns traded it and Greg Newsome to the Jaguars last October for Tyson Campbell. The Jags sent it to the Raiders at the deadline in the Jakobi Meyers deal.

“The Raiders sent it to Buffalo last month for Taron Johnson,” Graziano continued. “The Bills dealt it to the Broncos on Friday night to move back up into the second round to take Davison Igbinosun. And the Broncos sent it back to Cleveland earlier today in a fifth-round trade-up for Justin Joly.”

The Browns received a C- grade for picking Green, according to the PFSN NFL Draft HQ data. Green had a 76.41 prospect score.

“Taylen Green stands to benefit as one of the more traits-rich quarterbacks in the sparse 2026 NFL Draft class,” PFSN’s scouting report on him noted. “The Mountain West Freshman of the Year back in 2022, Green took his talents to Arkansas and failed to show substantial year-over-year development, but nonetheless managed to enthrall with flashes of elite physical talent and 1-on-1 discernment.

“At his best, Green showed he could layer the ball over second-level defenders with pace and touch, operate off-platform on designed rollouts, and generate eye-catching velocity from different launch points.”

The Browns will now have the entire offseason to evaluate who their starting quarterback will be. While Green is unlikely to be a serious candidate for the QB1 spot, Sanders and Watson are expected to have a closely contested battle.

According to PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric, the Browns had the worst offense in the league last season, and a massive improvement is needed.
