Taylor Swift is now fully ingrained in the NFL world after her marriage to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. One of the most famous couples in the world officially tied the knot earlier this month in a happy ending to what became a viral sensation for the league once their relationship became public.

The NFL fully embraced the new wave of fans that came from Swift’s fandom. It taps into two interesting publics: a wider base of women and younger fans. Kelce also rose to worldwide stardom, moving away from being famous only in the country.
The relationship with Kelce, however, wasn’t the first time that Swift was exposed to the NFL world. One of her first personal bodyguards ended up being Jasen Esposito, a former offensive lineman who spent time on the practice squads of the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills and played in NFL Europe.
On Wednesday, a new episode of “The Ross Tucker Podcast” dropped, and Esposito told the story of how he ended up being her personal bodyguard. The call came from Scott Swift, Taylor’s father.

“He calls me up,” Jasen said. “And asked me what I was doing Saturday afternoon. I tell him, ‘I’m free, what’s going on?’ ‘Taylor, I’m gonna need you to stand by for an autograph signing.’ So I went up there for the day, literally just stood next to Taylor the whole time.
“I guess someone tried to hug her or something before, and she wanted a big, intimidating guy there, so Scott thought of me right away.”

Taylor has become one of the biggest pop culture superstars in the world, and having multiple bodyguards around her is now mandatory rather than a question. Her status as one of the most well-known artists of the century is secure.
But her relationship with the NFL has seen the league suddenly grow its brand with unexpected publics, and ultimately, this is all a positive for all those involved. Now married to Travis Kelce, she’s likely to appear at Arrowhead Stadium more than ever, especially as it could be his final season.
