Jerry Jeudy committed one of the season’s most eyebrow-raising mistakes Sunday. The wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns made a deep catch in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders, but inexplicably stopped running and was caught from behind by a Raiders defender, fumbling the ball.
Jeudy was heavily criticized after the play. He saw two Raiders defenders in front and decided to stop running to avoid a hard tackle, but never noticed another player coming from behind. Many critics, including former players, weighed in on the play.

One of those critics was Shannon Sharpe, the former tight end who left ESPN a few months ago. Sharpe, who watched the game closely as a fan of Shedeur Sanders, could not believe what the wide receiver did after a great play from the quarterback.
“Come on Jeudy. Can’t mess that play up. Sanders playing out of his mind and you got careless,” Sharpe tweeted.

Sanders was under heavy scrutiny on Sunday. He was making his first start for the Cleveland Browns since being a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The big gain could have represented more points on the board for the Browns. Instead, it ended as a turnover.

The bad play, however, ended as just a footnote on a good day for Sanders. He became the first of 18 quarterbacks to win their first-ever game as a starter for the Cleveland Browns. Since the team was re-established in 1999, no quarterback had previously succeeded in doing so.
Sanders finished the game with 11 completions in 20 passes for 209 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Jeudy had a single reception for 39 yards, which, of course, did not end well.
Jeudy is having the worst year of his career. Fresh off his first 1,000-yard season in 2024, he has just 395 yards and one touchdown in 11 games. He currently has a 60.2 grade in PFSN’s WR Metric Impact metric, placing him at No. 77 in the season ranking. Curiously, he is still the best-rated receiver from the Browns, with a D- grade.
Despite the bad play, the Browns had many reasons to celebrate. Myles Garrett was also a star, adding three more sacks, bringing his total to 18 this season. In a year with many struggles, Cleveland was able to coast to a win against Las Vegas.
