Philadelphia Eagles fans will have a hard time forgetting the Week 12 game loss against the Dallas Cowboys, especially when they seemed to have total control over the game in the first half. There’s a lot of buzz around the Eagles and their quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Recently, Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe has stirred further controversy with a significant claim.
Shannon Sharpe Makes a Bold Claim About Eagles and Jalen Hurts
The Eagles, who entered AT&T Stadium with impressive stats and a four-game winning streak, had to suffer a 21-24 defeat against the Cowboys. Philadelphia has been performing exceptionally well this season, with Hurts at the forefront, leading the team to the top of the NFC East with an 8-3 record.
Hurts has been performing quite well this season, currently ranking number 8 on PFSN’s QB Impact. His crew looked unstoppable on Sunday in the first half, scoring touchdowns on their first three possessions. The Eagles were leading the game 21-0 in the second quarter, making everyone believe it was a one-sided game that the hosts would lose embarrassingly.
However, neither the team nor its fans could believe how the game took a 180-degree turn, with Dallas ultimately securing the win. Social media has been in an uproar following this game, and Sharpe has recently joined the conversation.
While many are criticising Hurts for the defeat and his ongoing differences with A.J. Brown, the former Raiders TE came in his support. In a recent podcast on Nightcap, when the topic of trusting the QB came up, Sharpe quickly responded that the Eagles don’t trust their leader, Hurts.
“They (Eagles) don’t (trust Hurts),” Sharpe said. “I don’t care what they say, they don’t. Because there are not a whole lot of people that have a quarterback that’s a Super Bowl MVP… They don’t trust him as they should trust him. He came in as a backup, he got the starting job, and he hasn’t relinquished it.”
These claims have sparked new debates among fans about what’s going on with the strong-looking Eagles. Fans have set the expectation bar for the reigning Super Bowl champions very high and seem unwilling to tolerate a defeat in a game that was in their hand.
Whatever differences Philadelphia players have with each other, be it trust issues as Sharpe claimed, or something else, fans are hopeful they’ll sort it out before coming to the field against the NFC North leaders, the Chicago Bears, on Saturday, Nov. 29.
