The Seattle Seahawks recently defeated the New England Patriots to become the Super Bowl 60 champions. They will hold their victory parade on Wednesday morning, but the Seattle Public Schools District recently made a major announcement that may impact the overall attendance.
Who Can Attend the Seahawks Super Bowl Parade in Seattle?
Many Seahawks fans are likely excited to attend the Super Bowl parade on Wednesday to celebrate their victory over the Patriots. This has become an annual tradition for the championship-winning team, and it’s usually held in their home city.
The Seattle Public School Board made a major announcement in relation to potential attendance at the parade, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. It was reportedly made through a press release and signed by their chief operating officer, Fred Podesta, and apparently applies to all schools in the district.
“As the city plans celebrations, including a victory parade planned for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m., we want families to know that Seattle Public Schools will remain open with the normal early-release Wednesday schedule,” read the release.

The announcement also stated that missing school to attend the parade on Wednesday would be officially recorded as an unexcused absence. Rapoport also reported that this differs from the last three years of Super Bowl parades, with Kansas City and Philadelphia allowing excused absences for students attending the celebrations for the Chiefs and Eagles.
Rapoport also speculated that this could increase the number of adult Seahawks fans at the festivities, noting built-in “babysitters” if their kids have to be in school.
Some parents may still decide to call them out of school and bring them to the parade to join the celebration, but they won’t get the luxury of excused absences, which has become the standard in other cities but apparently not in Seattle.
The Seahawks announced they will kick things off at home, Lumen Field, with a Vince Lombardi Trophy celebration. The parade will follow the ceremony in honor of the second overall Super Bowl championship in franchise history and their first in more than a decade.
Russell Wilson was still their quarterback for the first one, but this time, it was Sam Darnold leading the Seahawks to victory. He did so in his first year in Seattle to cap off a solid season, which included him finishing 13th in PFSN’s Impact Rankings for the position.
