Week 15 of the NFL turned out to be extra special for Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay. Not only did his team secure an impressive win over the Detroit Lions, but the coach also received even bigger personal news to celebrate, which he shared shortly after.
Sean McVay and His Wife Welcome Their Second Child
On Sunday, the Rams clashed with the Lions at Ford Field. Already one of the league’s top-performing teams, the Week 15 victory officially punched their ticket to the playoffs with an 11-3 record, keeping them atop the NFC West.
After the thrilling 41-34 win, McVay was expected to handle his usual post-game media duties. However, he didn’t stay long at the stadium. According to NFL insider Jay Glazer, McVay rushed home to take his wife, Veronika Khomyn, to the hospital as she was to deliver their second child.
“Sean McVay, big win against the Lions right here, but how about this?,” Glazer reported. “He tells me he’s actually going to leave the stadium, head home, pick up his wife Veronika, head to the hospital for the birth of their second son.”
The McVay family welcomed their second son, Christian McVay, on Monday morning, as reported by Adam Grosbard of the LA Daily News.
“Sean McVay announces that Christian McVay was born yesterday morning at 6am. Mom & Baby are both healthy,” Grosbard wrote on X.

With a playoff berth secured and a newborn added to the family, the McVays are set for a busy week ahead. McVay definitely had a hard time managing double duty back in 2023 when his first son was born. Balancing coaching responsibilities with welcoming a new family member significantly impacted his routine, a fact he acknowledged.
“Well, I’m getting caught up, you know. I mean, everything that went on this week. I got way behind, so still have a lot of work to do. Everything’s good, but the sleep thing is real,” McVay said after welcoming his first son. “Everything is great. Everything is all good, but we are creatures of habit in terms of our rhythm and routine, and I get a little edgy and irritable when that gets a little off.”
Following their impressive Week 15 performance, the Rams now shift focus to a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. With increased responsibilities at home and on the field, McVay now faces the challenge of balancing both while also trying to catch some sleep.
