As Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks know they’ll have to rebuild parts of their roster to return to the top. Many key players on the championship run will head to free agency, and with the sixth-most cap space available, the Seahawks have plenty of money to spend on the market to sign their replacements.
Seattle Seahawks Projected To Steal Jauan Jennings From 49ers
One of the new faces in the 2026 season could come from their biggest rival. A recent article from Alex Kay at Bleacher Report provided landing spots for some free-agent wide receivers, and the Seahawks were projected to steal Jauan Jennings from the San Francisco 49ers.
Jennings, who’s 28, requested a trade before the 2025 season. He could still return to the 49ers, but he’ll now test the market to see what offers he can get.
Kay points out the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator, Brian Fleury, as a reason for Jennings to switch sides in the upcoming weeks, as Fleury previously worked in San Francisco:
“Seattle recently lured Brian Fleury away from San Francisco and installed him as the team’s offensive coordinator. Jauan Jennings would make for an ideal free-agent pickup. Jennings would not only make for an ideal complementary piece alongside star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the passing attack, but he’s a willing blocker who would bolster the Seahawks’ hard-nosed ground game.”
Jennings emerged as a key player for the 49ers in the past two seasons. With injuries to Brandon Aiyuk and a sharp decline in Deebo Samuel’s impact, he emerged as a weapon for Brock Purdy, especially on third downs. He has 132 receptions, 1,618 yards, and 15 touchdowns in the past two seasons.
The Seahawks are expected to pursue a wide receiver on the market due to Rashid Shaheed’s impending departure. Shaheed, who joined via a midseason trade, is expected to sign a big contract on the market. Despite his value as a returner and the vertical threat of his game, the Seahawks aren’t expected to re-sign him.
Jennings doesn’t have the same vertical threat as Shaheed, but he has a more complete route tree. He can help Sam Darnold work the middle of the field on third downs, but don’t expéct to see many big plays to him. He ranked as No. 77 in our PFSN WR Impact Metric with a grade of 71.1.
With $60.7 million available on the salary cap, the Seahawks will divert most of the money to extensions for some key players. But a few moves will also be needed, and Jennings could be the perfect addition for their new offense.
