The Seattle Seahawks will need to make several decisions during the NFL offseason regarding the futures of some of the franchise’s players. Kenneth Walker III Expected To Remain With The Seattle Seahawks

With the title won against the New England Patriots, the running back became a Seahawks legend after his performances in the playoffs, but there are doubts as to whether the Seattle franchise will sign the player to a long-term deal. Fortunately for the fans, everything indicates a positive outcome in this situation.

According to CBS Sports‘ Jonathan Jones, it is fully expected that the Seahawks will not let Walker enter free agency. Whether with a contract extension or the franchise tag, it is unlikely that Walker will leave Seattle to play for another franchise in the 2026 season.

Jones said, “It’s no exaggeration to say he earned himself millions this postseason. The Seahawks have plenty of cap space, but both sides may struggle to immediately agree on an extension after this playoff burst.”

“Has he earned a Josh Jacobs- or James Cook-type deal worth $12 million per year? Or does GM John Schneider opt for the one-year, roughly $14 million tag? Either way, after the past few weeks, there is little doubt Walker will remain in Seattle,” he said.

Finding high-level RBs in the NFL, whether through trades, free agency, or the draft, can be relatively easy. Teams often let high-level players at this position leave to find younger, cheaper options.

However, after carrying the franchise to the title, plans to count on Walker for at least one more season seem quite feasible.

Understanding Walker’s Situation With The Seahawks

Putting the franchise tag on Walker will not be a simple decision, as the Seahawks have many other important free agents on the market for whom the tag would be useful.

However, if the Seahawks are unable to reach a renewal agreement, they can use the tag for about $14 million and keep Walker in Seattle for another year, as Jones said.

This update is a good sign, as it suggests the Seahawks plan to continue relying on the RB. The only question is how they will do so, but after an incredible playoff run, there is no reason for the Seahawks to let Walker leave this offseason.
