There’s bold. There’s hot. And then there’s this.
The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the more confusing teams to figure out this offseason. Despite winning 10 games last year and narrowly missing the playoffs due to tiebreakers, the franchise chose to blow things up.
The Seahawks parted ways with key names like DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Geno Smith. In return, they brought in Sam Darnold on a three-year, $100.5 million deal and made a surprising splash by acquiring Cooper Kupp. But despite the moves made, one NFL analyst believes Seattle isn’t done yet, and another quarterback could be on the way.
Seattle Seahawks Predicted to Land Jaxson Dart in NFL Draft Despite Sam Darnold Contract
Seattle’s defense was one of the league’s best last season, finishing sixth in PFSN’s Defense+ metric. The offense, though? A different story. Even with star power at key positions, the Seahawks finished just 20th in PFSN’s Offense+ metric, making it clear that significant changes were needed.
The front office responded by overhauling the offense, but the latest mock draft from PFSN suggests they might go even further, projecting that Seattle will select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
“The Seahawks just brought in Sam Darnold, I know,” PFSN NFL Draft analyst Marco Enriquez wrote, “but there are still plenty of questions about whether Darnold can succeed away from Kevin O’Connell and company.”
Enriquez pitched Dart as a high-upside insurance policy, especially after Seattle’s dramatic roster shake-up. “Seattle cannot afford to let their offseason moves fail after moving on from Smith and DK Metcalf. They take their crack at a franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart.”
Theoretically, the Seahawks could move on from Darnold after just one season, as most of his new contract isn’t guaranteed. That would pave the way for Dart, who Enriquez ranks as his QB1 — just ahead of Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
“Dart could sit behind Darnold for at least part of Year 1,” Enriquez added, “which would benefit both the Seahawks and his development.”
Dart’s final year at Ole Miss was his best yet — he threw for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns, adding 495 rushing yards and three more scores on the ground.
“Some may question Dart’s aggressive, big-play mentality,” Enriquez said, “but with strong coaching, he has all the traits to be a franchise cornerstone.”
With weapons like Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp already in place, Seattle could quietly be setting the table for their next big thing at quarterback. And if Dart lives up to the hype, this surprising draft move could go down as the steal of the year.
