The Seattle Seahawks are focused on the Divisional Round, with a thrilling matchup against the San Francisco 49ers this Saturday at Lumen Field. With a bye week in the Wild Card round after earning the best NFC record in the regular season, many players took the opportunity to rest and analyze their upcoming opponents.
At the same time, Klint Kubiak had a jam-packed few days, being interviewed by several franchises.
Klint Kubiak Sheds Light on Interviews for Head Coach Position
According to a revelation made during a press conference on Friday (via Brady Henderson), Kubiak was interviewed by six teams for head coach positions during the Seahawks’ bye week, making him one of the leading candidates to take over a franchise in the offseason after successfully transforming Seattle’s offense.
The Seahawks rank No. 9 in the PFSN Offense Impact metrics with a C+ grade, finished third in the regular season in points per game (28.4) and eighth in passing yards per game (228.1), making them one of the most potent offenses in the NFL today.
“It was good, there’s a lot going on. And it was only couple of hard days off, which was perfect timing, and then right back to business after that. In this profession, you always think about these things during your off time in the summer so that when opportunities come, youāre ready,” said Kubiak.
Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak had six head-coaching interviews during Seattleās bye week.
āThey were good conversations,ā he said. āVery flattered for that opportunity. But weāve worked our entire season, our whole lives for games like this. This is the most important thing.ā pic.twitter.com/UbVQY4qx0X

He added, “But the main thing is just being yourself and staying focused on your current responsibilities.”
About the opportunity, Kubiak said, āThey were good conversations. Very flattered by that opportunity. But weāve worked our entire season, our whole lives for games like this. This is the most important thing for me right now and has my full attention.ā
This statement may make skeptical fans even more concerned, as it could seem that the offensive coordinator is prioritizing his ambitions to become head coach next season over being fully committed to winning the Super Bowl for the Seahawks.
However, Kubiak’s central message is that he remains undistracted by head-coach interviews and remains focused on the team’s current goal.
Some of the franchises that have interviewed Kubiak include the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders. At the same time, Seattle would prefer Kubiak to remain as OC.
Seahawks Offense Revolutionized by Kubiak
The Seahawks begin their quest for the Super Bowl against their last regular-season opponent. Seattle, coming off a 13-3 win over the 49ers in Week 18, the game that decided the NFC West’s top spot, offers fans fond memories to get excited about.
However, the Seahawks’ offense will face the 49ers’ defense, as quarterback Sam Darnold’s oblique injury is expected to limit his mobility in the decisive game. Consequently, San Francisco is also likely to significantly reinforce its defense to prevent the ground game from being exploited.
Since strong playoff performances increase his chances of being considered for head coaching jobs, this weekend marks Kubiakās most crucial game since becoming an NFL offensive coordinator.
