Seahawks Injury Update: Key Starter’s Status Up in Air After Getting Hurt During Super Bowl Practice

With a few days left before Super Bowl 60, the Seattle Seahawks are dealing with an injury to one of their safeties at this point.

When the Seattle Seahawks take the field at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 8, to face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60, they want all their players healthy and ready to go.

But some news regarding the health of one Seahawks player becomes something to keep an eye on as the hours and days get closer to kickoff.

Which Seahawks Player Is Now Injured Before Super Bowl 60?

On Wednesday night, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport shared a pool report on X regarding the health of rookie safety Nick Emmanwori.

“Safety Nick Emmanwori was limited in practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury that he suffered during practice,” the pool report stated. “The rookie safety injured his ankle while defending a pass late in practice. He walked off the field on his own shortly before 4 p.m.

“Several players and coaches went over to comfort him before he left,” according to the pool report. “‘He had an ankle today, we brought him in to look at it, and we’ll kind of go from here and figure out what are the next steps?’ (Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike) Macdonald said.'”

Not having a full complement of safeties going into Super Bowl 60 is not something Macdonald or the Seahawks want to face in going up against the Patriots. According to the PFSN NFL Defense Impact metrics, measured throughout the regular season, the Seahawks had an impact score of 88.4 and graded out to a B+.

Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde has worked hard to get the Seahawks’ defense playing tough throughout the NFL playoffs, too. The Seattle defense has played a big role in Seattle’s playoff wins over the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams.

Emmanwori was a second-round draft pick out of South Carolina by Seattle in the 2025 NFL Draft. In the regular season, he totaled 56 solo tackles and grabbed one interception as part of the Seahawks’ secondary. According to ESPN, Emmanwori is listed as questionable for Sunday’s showdown against New England.

At 21 years old, Emmanwori has a long NFL career ahead of him. Since there are a few days before kickoff on Sunday, the Seahawks will monitor this situation closely. But if Emmanwori is unable to play, Durde and Macdonald will have to review their defensive schemes.
