Seahawks Named Landing Spot for De’Von Achane Amid Uncertainty Around Dolphins RB’s Future

A proposed De'Von Achane trade could help the Seattle Seahawks replace Kenneth Walker and sustain their run-heavy offense.

Nearly every decision worked in the Seattle Seahawks’ favor, and at the end of the season, they were raising the Vince Lombardi Trophy. But life comes at you fast in the NFL, and the team has already dealt with a few losses in free agency, most notably Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker.

Now they need a replacement to ensure that they can sustain their run-heavy model with two running backs. One analyst believes the team could make a blockbuster addition alongside Zach Charbonnet by going after De’Von Achane.

Why De’Von Achane is the Perfect Fit for the Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks were unquestionably one of the biggest success stories of the 2025 NFL season. Despite constant nine- and 10-win seasons under Geno Smith, the team took the risk of going after an unproven Sam Darnold, and the results were immediate.

From handing Jaxon Smith-Njigba the reins of the offense to Darnold showcasing his true value as a former first-round pick, the organization was consistently dominant all season long. But the offseason hasn’t been very kind to them.

Players like Walker and Riq Woolen are already in new locker rooms, and that is without counting the loss of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. As a result, the Seahawks need better pieces to sustain their success from this season.

According to Cameron Sheath of PFSN, that makes them prime contenders to go after Achane. The Miami Dolphins are tearing down the team completely after parting ways with Jaylen Waddle, Tua Tagovailoa, and Tyreek Hill, as well as replacing their head coach and general manager.

The next premium player that could fetch them a war chest of draft capital is their running back. An underrated campaign last year saw him tally 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground while also adding 488 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

Ranking at No. 2 on PFSN’s RB Impact, he was one of the only bright spots of the Miami offense. “Seattle just signed Emanuel Wilson to cover any potential missed time for Zach Charbonnet next season, but has plenty of cap space to secure Achane on a long-term deal.”

Additionally, the contract with Achane is a virtual non-factor at this point in time. But it will become a serious point of consideration in the near future. Still, Seattle has a rather obvious need in its backfield, and that is where the Pro Bowler can make his mark for the organization.
