Seahawks Urged To Trade for $14,293,000 RB To Reinforce Backfield After Kenneth Walker III’s Departure

A proposed Breece Hall trade gives the Seattle Seahawks the perfect replacement for Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III.

A rousing success for the Seattle Seahawks gave them their second Super Bowl in franchise history. But the hope for the organization has to be to continue its success. Thankfully, they’ve managed to keep a majority of the roster intact, albeit with a few key changes.

Perhaps the biggest to that effect is their Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker III. For a team that greatly emphasized split carries between its two running backs, his loss could be a massive blow for them unless they agree with this trade idea.

Seattle Seahawks Need Running Back Depth

Last season, with Klint Kubiak running the offense, Walker split his carries with Zach Charbonnet. But at No. 16 on PFSN’s NFL RB Impact Metrics, with 1,027 rushing yards and five touchdowns to his credit, his value for the team could not be overstated.

He was a key reason for the team being top three in rushing attempts and bottom four in pass attempts. That was on full display in Super Bowl 60, as he put in a spectacular outing with 135 rushing yards on an astounding 27 carries to his credit.

That enticed the Kansas City Chiefs, who gave him a three-year, $43.05 million contract this offseason. That has taken away a key advantage for Seattle, and Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports believes they need to find an ideal replacement for him.

Breaking down trade candidates for each NFC team, he made the case for Breece Hall to be the new guy in the backfield for the Seahawks. “The Jets just placed the franchise tag on Hall, and they want to sign him long term, though it’s not clear if Hall actually wants to stay in New York.”

That’s where he believes Seattle could swoop in. “The Seahawks, meanwhile, need a replacement for Kenneth Walker, whom they lost in free agency. The cost would be at least a third-round pick, which was reportedly what the Jets were asking for at the deadline last year.”

Since his sophomore year, Hall has been among the most consistent running back options in the league. Last year for the Jets, he put up 1,065 rushing yards and four touchdowns and ranked at No. 13 on RBi.

Those numbers line up almost perfectly with what the Seahawks are missing without Walker and could make him the perfect piece to acquire. The price tag of $14.293 million stemming from the franchise tag could be something Seattle is willing to swallow.

“A running back like Hall is an unnecessary luxury for a team like the Jets headed for the bottom of the standings,” Vacchiano argued. “But he could instantly make the Seahawks an even bigger threat to repeat as Super Bowl champs.”

The Seahawks, under their current management structure, haven’t been afraid of taking big steps to ensure their success. This would be the next move in a long line of such transactions and, with Kubiak no longer on the sidelines, could give them a nice security blanket.
