The San Francisco 49ers underwent a transition this offseason after years of high-level Super Bowl contention. No team lost more in free agency based on total contract value handed out, and no team took on more dead money. Without Deebo Samuel Sr., Javon Hargrave, Charvarius Ward, Dre Greenlaw, or Talanoa Hufanga (among many others), San Francisco won’t look quite the same in 2025.
However, the 49ers did complete the long-awaited Brock Purdy contract extension, and while they didn’t come away from free agency with enough talent to substantiate the losses, they still have a decent chance of making the playoffs. But the first step is getting through the training camp, and the dates have already been announced. So, let’s break it down.

San Francisco 49ers’ Training Camp Schedule
The 49ers’ training camp will once again be held at the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California, starting with the arrival of rookies on July 15. The early arrival of rookies is a standard practice in the NFL and allows them to get acclimated to the NFL.
The Niners have signed plenty of rookies this offseason, with eleven coming from the 2025 NFL Draft only, so an extra week of practice is justified for them. The veterans are scheduled to report on July 22, and the first full team practice is expected to take place on the following day.
The Niners have yet to announce which practice dates will be open to fans and when tickets will be available. Although entry into the facility is usually free, tickets are still required and are made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
As for the 49ers’ joint practices, the team is scheduled to host the Denver Broncos on August 7. The 49ers and Broncos will later face off in their first preseason game on August 9 in Santa Clara.

The NFL has announced the official training camp report dates for all 32 teams, with camps set to begin this July. For the San Francisco 49ers, rookies will report to camp on July 15, while veterans are scheduled to arrive on July 22.

San Francisco will next travel for their second joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders on August 14 before playing their second preseason game two days later.
The joint practices help the teams reignite the fire in training after days of playing against familiar faces. However, the 49ers will still find some familiar faces when they host the Broncos, with D.J. Jones, Hufanga, and Greenlaw making their return to the 49ers’ facility.
They’ll wrap up their preseason against the Los Angeles Chargers before opening the regular season with a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
San Francisco is ranked No. 16 in PFSN’s Power Rankings and has a 62.3% chance of making the playoffs and a 21.2% chance of winning their division. With the NFC West getting stronger, the 49ers will need to be better, especially defensively (26th in PFSN’s Defense+ metric last season), if they want to compete.
