Chris Olave, one of the New Orleans Saints’ key players, has been involved in trade rumors in recent days. This has left fans apprehensive due to the lack of clear information about the wide receiver’s real stance on the situation.
However, an important update on Friday provides fans with reassurance. Olave indicated he is very happy in New Orleans and has no desire to change teams at this time.
Chris Olave Has No Plans to Leave the New Orleans Saints
In an interview with the “Up & Adams Show,” the WR said he intends to stay with the Saints “forever.” He indicated he will sign a contract extension soon. Olave also praised the fans, culture, and people of New Orleans, showing he is happy with his life right now.
Olave said, “It’s in the works. I want to be in New Orleans forever. I know it’s a tough time right now. But I love it out here, lot of people, lot of culture, lot of fans.”
Olave is currently under his rookie contract, which the Saints extended through the 2026 season by exercising the fifth-year option on April 23. Unless renewed, he will become a free agent in 2027.

The dismal 2-8 record this season has created apprehension among Saints fans. There is growing interest from other teams in the WR’s quality ahead of the trade deadline on November 4. The Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers are most interested in signing him, but there has been no significant progress with other franchises.
In October, local press reported Olave was negotiating a new long-term contract with the Saints, even as his name was linked to other teams. It now appears contract extension talks are at an advanced stage.
Olave’s Impact on the Saints’ Offense Is Huge
Olave (who currently ranks 29th in the PFSN WR Impact with a C+ grade) was the 11th overall pick in the 2022 Draft. He became a key highlight in the Saints’ aerial attack, with over 1,000 yards in his first two years in the NFL. In 2024, two concussions limited him to eight games. But in 2025, the WR regained his form and played in all ten games of the Saints’ regular season.
This WR is definitely the Saints’ main offensive player right now. In 2025, he already has 60 receptions for 664 yards and four touchdowns, averaging over 10 yards per reception. The Saints are in 4th place in the NFC South, making a Wild Card comeback unlikely. However, wins against the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins could give them a last glimmer of hope.
