Cam Jordan has reached a point in his career when he no longer feels the need to soften his opinions. After 15 seasons in the league, the New Orleans Saints’ longtime defensive anchor speaks with the confidence of someone who has lined up against nearly everyone and believes he knows the difference between reputation and reality. He recently shared his thoughts on offensive linemen and whether they truly deserve to be called “athletic.”
Jordan’s comments were surprising, especially because the players he singled out, Trent Williams and Tristan Wirfs, are widely viewed as two of the most physically gifted tackles in football.
Cam Jordan on Rival Tristan Wirfs and Trent Williams’ Athleticism
In an appearance on “Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football with Jordan Schultz,” Cam Jordan dismissed the idea that elite offensive linemen possess real athleticism, suggesting that strength often gets confused for movement skill.
“There’s the offensive linemen that they swear are athletic,” Jordan said, “and they’re not.”
When he was asked whether San Francisco 49ers player Trent Williams is athletic, he replied, “No. He’s hella strong, though, and he makes hella highlights off of getting to the second level.”
That assessment runs counter to how Williams is viewed around the league. At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Williams can move in space, pull from the line, and stay balanced against elite pass rushers. His agility and body control have been the foundation of his game.

The conversation then shifted to Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Tristan Wirfs, a familiar rival within the NFC South.
“He’s fat as hell. Stop,” Jordan said before adding, “Shout out to Tristan Wirfs for being a hell of an offensive tackle though.”
Wirfs’ career suggests far more than that. An exceptional athlete dating back to his record-breaking performance at the 2020 NFL Combine, Wirfs has become a reliable and versatile tackle in the league. He is the only player in NFL history to earn first-team All-Pro honors at both right and left tackle, and his athleticism has consistently shown up in pass protection and the run game.
All of this comes as Jordan faces a significant decision of his own. He is coming off a strong 2025 season with 10.5 sacks, 47 tackles, and 15 tackles for loss, his best output in several years. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, retirement is very much on the table. If Jordan decides to return, however, it is expected that he would only do so with the Saints, who are ranked 10th in PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric with a score of 80.6 and a B-minus rating.
