Royce Freeman Fantasy Waiver Wire: Should I Pick Up Rams RB This Week?

Should fantasy football managers add Royce Freeman to their fantasy teams after scoring a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys?

The Los Angeles Rams had a tough game on Sunday as they were blown out by the Dallas Cowboys, 43-20.

Matt Stafford had a tough day, throwing for only 162 yards and one touchdown. The running game wasn’t much better, as the Rams were able to run for only 92 yards on 24 carries. Running back Royce Freeman was solid, carrying the ball nine times for 44 yards, and was able to get in the end zone for a touchdown.

With that in mind, should fantasy football managers bring Freeman on their team?

Should Royce Freeman Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 9?

Freeman is putting up solid numbers after being signed to the active roster by the Rams two weeks ago. In the two games he has played since then, he has carried the ball 21 times for 110 yards. That is good for an average of 5.2 yards, which is a good number.

However, one issue that is making him not extremely tempting for fantasy managers is the fact he has been outrushed by Darrell Henderson, who was brought back at the same time two weeks ago. During the same two-game stretch, he has carried the ball 30 times but has been able to only get 92 yards.

Henderson is also more of the pass-receiving threat of the two, as he had three catches for 54 yards against the Cowboys. Freeman, in the two games, hasn’t even received a target through the air.

Right now, fantasy football managers should stay away from Freeman. First off, if he hadn’t scored a touchdown on Sunday, he would have had only 4.4 PPR points. That right there isn’t enough to go sign a guy off a waiver wire. Another reason is the Rams could be getting Kyren Williams back in the not-too-distant future.

He is still on the injured reserve, but if he is back, it could force the Rams to cut Freeman. Right now, the Rams are struggling on offense, so it is hard to see them putting up enough points moving forward. If you look at the schedule, it could be tempting as the next opponent on the Rams schedule is the Green Bay Packers and the Arizona Cardinals.

The Packers are currently the third-worst rush defense in the NFL, as they allow 143.7 yards on the ground. The Cardinals aren’t much better, as they allow 130.7 yards, which ranks 25th in the league.

The rushing attack right now is just not good enough to have anybody from their backfield on your fantasy team.
