49ers DC Robert Saleh Makes Feelings Clear on Jaxson Dart, Brian Daboll Rushing Giants QB’s Concussion Test

Robert Saleh praised Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart's talent and understood why Brian Daboll prioritized his concussion evaluation during recent games.

For Week 9’s edition of Sunday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers will take on the New York Giants.

Giants’ quarterback Jaxson Dart will be one of the lead storylines going into the matchup, as the rookie QB was just named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month. However, Dart also made headlines in mid-October due to a potential concussion.

Robert Saleh Chimes in on Worth of Jaxson Dart on Giants’ Roster

During the second half of the Giants’ 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26, Dart grabbed at his head on the ground after taking a hit on a third-quarter sack. He was taken to the blue medical tent for evaluation of a concussion, then cleared and returned to the matchup.

This also marked the third time in four games, dating back to the preseason, that Dart has been evaluated for a concussion.

Ahead of taking on the Giants, San Francisco defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said he understands why so much of a priority was placed on evaluating Dart from Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll.

“He’s uber talented. I understand why Daboll went to the blue tent. I would’ve gone too,” Saleh said at a recent press conference. “Kid’s good. I think New York hit on this one big time. This kid is going to be special.”

Dart was previously given the nod over veteran Russell Wilson as the Giants started the year 0-3 and entered Week 4 still searching for their first win. After his time with the Ole Miss Rebels, the Giants drafted Dart with the No. 25 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The rookie signal caller currently has an impact score of 77.1 and is ranked No. 16 among quarterbacks this season by PFSN’s NFL QB Impact metric.

In four games throughout October, Dart ranked first among NFL rookies in total touchdowns (10), passing touchdowns (seven), and passer rating (90.0). His three rushing touchdowns, meanwhile, are tied for first. Dart is also the first Giant to be named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month since wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. won back-to-back awards in November and December of 2014.

Dart, 22, already has 12 touchdowns on the season, in addition to 1,179 total offensive yards. The QB and the Giants will face off against the 49ers on Nov. 2 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
