The Baltimore Ravens had an intense week with the official presentation of Jesse Minter as their new head coach. Now, the franchise took another step forward in its long-term future with the appointment of a new offensive coordinator.
Baltimore Ravens Select Promising Youngster Declan Doyle as New OC
According to Adam Schefter, the Ravens have agreed to hire Declan Doyle, who previously served as OC for the Chicago Bears, to take on the same role in Baltimore, which is an extremely strategic move with Lamar Jackson (who ranks No. 12 in the PFSN QB Impact metrics with a C+ grade) in mind.
Amid rumors of the possible departure of their starting QB, the Ravens are seeking a renewed, dynamic offensive identity under the leadership of Minter, who has a more defense-oriented profile.
Baltimore had been adrift in recent days following John Harbaugh’s resignation in early January, while Todd Monken left the franchise to take charge of the Cleveland Browns, but the situation appears to be gradually settling down.

Doyle was considered for the coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles this week, but chose to withdraw his name from consideration before finalizing the deal with Baltimore, attracted by the opportunity to lead the offense of a team that could start next season as one of the top contenders for the title.
Doyle Is One of the NFL’s Top OC’s Right Now
At 29, Doyle is seen as one of the most promising young players in the NFL today. Although he served as coordinator in Chicago last season, this move to the Ravens represents a significant step forward in his career, giving him full responsibility for play-calling, a task that was handled by HC Ben Johnson with the Bears.
Before joining the Bears, Doyle built his professional foundation working with Sean Payton, first with the New Orleans Saints and then as a tight ends coach with the Denver Broncos.

In 2025, he was a key player in Chicago’s offensive evolution, helping QB Caleb Williams in his consolidation year and elevating the team’s offense from the bottom of the league to the top 10 in total yards.
Doyle is known for a philosophy that emphasizes using many presnap motions and varied cadences to force the defense to anticipate movements before a play, allowing him to predict, in many situations, what the opposing players will do. This reduces the mental load of post-snap reading.
Understanding How The New OC Could Help Jackson in Baltimore
If Jackson knows exactly what the defensive coverage is before he even receives the ball, he can be much more lethal and quick in his decisions, reducing the time he spends vulnerable in the pocket. In addition, Doyle can focus on creating passing windows based on the success of the running game.
With running back Derrick Henry in the backfield and the QB’s own running threat, Doyle’s scheme often uses play-action to isolate defenders, creating the ideal scenario for Jackson: defenders hesitating between chasing the run or retreating for the pass, opening up the middle of the field for targets such as tight end Mark Andrews and wide receiver Zay Flowers.
