One of the most shocking moments in NFL history occurred yesterday when the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Maxx Crosby. It was revealed that the Ravens decided not to go ahead with the trade due to a failed physical, but others thought it could have been to pivot to EDGE Trey Hendrickson.
Ravens Sign Former Division Rival Trey Hendrickson to Massive Contract
It was clear that once the Ravens ended the Crosby trade, it would have ramifications around the league. The Raiders now need to find a new trade partner, and Baltimore needed to pivot to address their pass-rush issue. Last season, the Ravens were 28th in sack percentage (29.3%) according to PFSN’s Defensive Impact Metric.
This was unacceptable and may have led to a regime change, but under the newly hired HC, Jesse Minter, a defensive-minded coach, fixing the sack rate issue is a priority.
Well, it seems Baltimore has found that fix, as the Ravens have agreed to a deal with Hendrickson, who most recently played for the divisional rival Cincinnati Bengals.

Now, the Ravens have found their Crosby replacement, and Hendrickson, who is 31-years old, is getting a 4-year, $112 million contract.
Hendrickson is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, and per PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric, he was ranked 12th last season despite many injuries. In 2024 alone, he also led the NFL with 17.5 sacks. He is also a 4-time Pro Bowler and has made the AP team once.

It seems the Ravens have recovered nicely after backing out of the Crosby trade. They get a star edge rusher to fill the void left after the trade was no more, but Hendrickson is not at Crosby’s level, and the Raiders star is nearly three years younger than him.
Still, Hendrickson may not have the health concerns that might have scared the Ravens enough to back out of the trade.
Let’s see if the Raiders can bounce back as the Ravens have.
