NFC Championship Game Preview: Who Has the Edge in Rubber Match Between Rams and Seahawks?
The Rams and Seahawks are both in the NFC West division, meaning that they play against each other twice during each regular season. They split their two matchups this season, so in addition to this game being for the conference title, it will also serve as a rubber match. Each team won their home game, and with this one taking place in Seattle, that could favor the Seahawks.

Where the Rams have an advantage is in postseason experience in general. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay have already won a Super Bowl ring as a tandem, and the head coach went to a second one with Los Angeles when Jared Goff was still their starter. They will be matched up against Sam Darnold and Mike Macdonald in the same positions, neither of which have much playoff experience at all in their current roles.
When it comes to the two quarterbacks, both have performed well this season as a whole, but Stafford has the overall edge. He is currently the favorite to be named the NFL MVP for this year and ranks sixth among all quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings, while Darnold comes in at 13th on the same list. On the other hand, the Seahawks have the edge on defense as they rank three spots higher at third overall.
Both sides have certain factors that could play a major role in their potential victories, and whichever team comes out on top will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. There, they will face off against the AFC champions, either the New England Patriots or the Denver Broncos. Stafford is the only starting quarterback remaining with a ring, while Payton joins McVay as head coaches to have won the big game.
