In the ultimate game of inches, the Los Angeles Rams learned firsthand what a close defeat could taste like. Standing neck and neck with the Seattle Seahawks all season long, they came just a tiny bit short in the NFC Championship Game.
But with reigning MVP Matthew Stafford returning for at least one more season, the team has the chance to make it the perfect last hurrah. One analyst has the perfect player in mind for the organization to continue its aggressive offseason.
How the Los Angeles Rams Could Supercharge Their Offense
Last season, Los Angeles’ calling card was the offense. With Puka Nacua having the best year of his career and Davante Adams becoming one of the most trustworthy names in the end zone, it powered Stafford to the first MVP of his career.
As a result, the majority of the Rams’ focus this summer has been on adding more pieces defensively. Perhaps the biggest move to that effect came when they added superstar cornerback Trent McDuffie, parting ways with the 29th overall pick.
However, that still leaves them with the 13th pick in the draft, courtesy of a trade with the Atlanta Falcons. For PFSN’s Reese Decker, given the window of opportunity and the state of the roster, the clear-cut best possible option is adding Makai Lemon to an already electric offense.
In his latest mock draft, Decker sounded extremely high on the idea of another excellent receiver helping the best team on PFSN’s Offense Impact. However, the primary objective for the Rams in making the choice was to secure another Super Bowl.
“If you thought Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were fun, buckle up! Nacua, Davante Adams, and Makai Lemon are going to be pure rocket fuel as the Rams load up on a last-ditch effort to maximize their championship window with Matthew Stafford at the helm.”
The USC product had a slow start to his collegiate career, but he truly came into his own in his final year. He tallied 1,156 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior, accounting for a large chunk of his career totals of 2,008 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns.
At 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, Lemon is an excellent route runner with electric play speed, sharp footwork, and impressive body control that allow him to create consistent separation, and he can be a ball hawk in 50-50 situations despite his small frame.

He tempos his routes with nuance, shows awareness to find soft spots and win on releases and breaks, and he’s an incredibly dynamic RAC threat with quickness and contact balance.
All in all, he is the ideal candidate to add to the Rams’ offensive brilliance and could make them a truly unstoppable unit as they gear up for their second Super Bowl of the 2020s decade.
