Las Vegas Raiders Projected to Sign Tyler Linderbaum to Bolster Rookie QB Fernando Mendoza

According to Matthew Berry of NBC Sports, the Raiders plan to make an aggressive move for Tyler Linderbaum, a center currently with the Baltimore Ravens who is set to enter free agency. Linderbaum is widely regarded as one of the most valuable assets available this offseason.

“Expect the Las Vegas Raiders to make a very strong run at the Ravens star center Tyler Linderbaum, who is going to set records with his eventual payday,” Berry wrote.

“He’ll have many suitors, but I’m told the Raiders, who have a ton of cap space, very much like the idea of a stud like Linderbaum lining up in front of the No. 1 overall pick if Las Vegas does, in fact, draft Fernando Mendoza.”

The Raiders, who rank No. 31 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric with an F grade, struggled with quarterback protection and creating space for the running game during the 2025 season. Addressing the offensive line is therefore a clear priority.

The team led the league in interceptions and sacks allowed, according to Pro Football Reference, while also posting one of the weakest rushing performances in the NFL. Signing an elite center such as Linderbaum would stabilize the middle of the line.

Reinforcing the offensive line is also directly tied to the 2026 NFL Draft. With the No. 1 overall pick and expectations that Fernando Mendoza will be selected, adding veteran talent would provide the rookie quarterback with crucial protection.

Raiders Undergo Team Rebuilding Process

Creating a more favorable environment for Mendoza in his first season will be essential, and the franchise intends to utilize the approximately $95 million to $98 million available under the salary cap.

The rebuilding effort is being led by general manager John Spytek, who dismissed head coach Pete Carroll and hired Klint Kubiak. Since then, the Raiders have focused on developing young talent, as reflected in recent organizational moves.

Last season, Linderbaum solidified his reputation as an elite force, particularly in the running game, frequently demonstrating the ability to reach the second level of defense with speed. His agility in zone-blocking schemes and ability to sustain blocks against physically imposing linebackers remain his defining traits.
