Raiders Star Maxx Crosby Reacts to Cowboys Hiring His Former Coach Amid Growing Trade Buzz

With Raiders trade speculation continuing, Maxx Crosby took a noted interest in the Dallas Cowboys hiring his former coach.

The Las Vegas Raiders had some high hopes for the first full season with Tom Brady as the new owner. However, the 2025 NFL season did not go according to plan. Finishing with the worst record in the league, they are now firmly looking ahead to the draft, where they will select with the first overall pick.

But beyond the draft pick, another problem is building for the franchise. Their best player, superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby, has been public with his frustrations with the organization. As a result, his reaction to the Dallas Cowboys hiring a former coach immediately led to some speculation.

Dallas Cowboys Luring Maxx Crosby From the Raiders

A fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, it was hard to anticipate just how lethal Crosby would be at the next level. But since taking a jump to a Pro Bowl caliber player in 2021, he has been selected to the event five consecutive times, while also earning two All-Pro nods.

As a result, he earned a three-year, $106.5 million contract, which made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history at the time of signing. But, after a woeful 2025 campaign, his patience is clearly wearing thin.

Teams like the Chicago Bears have been linked as a potential trade destination for the game-wrecking defensive talent. But the Cowboys, who drew whispers in the past, could be inserting themselves back into the fold once again.

With a defense that ranked dead last on PFSN’s NFL Defense Impact, it was clear that the team needed to make a litany of changes. One of the first moves was moving on from defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, hiring Christian Parker in his stead.

But going a level deeper, they have now added BT Jordan to the group to be a pass rush specialist consultant. Jordan himself posted the news on Instagram, writing, “One Chapter Close Another One Opens! I’m Back To The South now! Blessed to be the Pass Rush Consultant for Americas Team!!”

As Yahoo Sports wrote, “Jordan has been one of the hottest names in the personal coaching world for the past decade-plus. He founded Trench Performance, a private company specializing in training defensive linemen. Through Trench Performance, Jordan has worked with a long list of current NFL players.”

That list of players includes Crosby, who didn’t wait long to celebrate his former coach. On the Instagram post, he commented, “Yessssssssir,” alongside three fire emojis, his excitement at the decision shining through.

It remains to be seen if the arrival of Jordan and a whole cast of defensive specialists on the sidelines is enough to convince Crosby. But an offseason that is already brimming with intrigue could have added yet another layer to the story.
