Raiders Viewed As Best Landing Spot for 21-TD WR to Help Projected No. 1 Pick Fernando Mendoza

The Las Vegas Raiders are named as the best landing spot for a Green Bay Packers wide receiver set to hit free agency.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ gamble on Geno Smith and Pete Carroll fell well short of expectations, but the disappointing season positioned the franchise for a reset with the No. 1 overall pick. Las Vegas has fully embraced a rebuild, hiring Klink Kubiak as head coach and now preparing to select Fernando Mendoza at the top of the draft.

The Raiders also need to bolster their receiving corps after trading Jakobi Meyers last season, and are predicted to target one of the top wide receivers in free agency.

Raiders Named Best Landing Spot For Former Packers WR

Meyers impressed during his first two seasons in Las Vegas, surpassing the 1,000-yard receiving mark in 2024. However, after seeking a contract extension before last season and failing to reach an agreement with the team, he requested a trade.

The Raiders ultimately dealt him to Jacksonville midway through the season in exchange for 2026 fourth and sixth-round picks. Meyers thrived with the Jaguars, while no Raiders wide receiver eclipsed 700 receiving yards. Tight end Brock Bowers currently stands as the only proven target for projected No. 1 pick Mendoza, highlighting the need for reinforcements in the receiving corps.

Las Vegas could address the position early in the draft, but a move in free agency remains a strong possibility. ESPN analyst Matt Bowen believes the Raiders are an ideal landing spot for Romeo Doubs, whom he ranks as the 21st-best free agent available.

“The Raiders can add to their wide receivers room for new coach Klint Kubiak by signing Doubs,” Bowen writes. “His ability to uncover and work the heavy traffic areas of the field would be great for anticipated top pick, Fernando Mendoza. A reliable pass catcher, Doubs had 55 receptions for 724 yards with the Packers in 2025.”

Doubs was selected by the Packers with the 132nd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Nevada. Through four years, the 25-year-old has caught 202 receptions for 2424 yards and 21 touchdowns.

In PFSN’s NFL Wide Receiver Impact Metric (WRi), Doubs’ best year with the Packers was actually 2025, where he ranked as the league’s 29th best receiver and finished with an impact score of 77.9 and a letter grade of C+.

Doubs has two career 100-yard games, both in the playoffs, which could boost his value on the open market. Per ESPN, he is expected to command a deal worth roughly $12 million annually, with Las Vegas emerging as one of the most logical suitors when the new league year begins.
