The season got off to a cracking start for the Los Angeles Chargers, with a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil, announcing their arrival in dynamic fashion. However, they haven’t been able to maintain their momentum, with a few disappointing losses coming in the last few weeks. A major reason for that drop-off has been the injuries the roster has been suffering through, both on the offensive and defensive sides of the football.
The losses of Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt on the offensive line have been major blows for the team, but the injury concerns have been more widespread for Los Angeles. A career resurgence from Quentin Johnston has unfortunately taken a stumble with his injury concerns. As they head into battle against the only team ahead of them in the AFC standings, the Indianapolis Colts, will the Chargers have their dynamic pass catcher back in the mix?
Will Quentin Johnston Play in Week 7 Against the Colts?
A first-round pick for LA in 2023, Johnston had a very slow start to his career. Tallying just 1,142 yards through his first two seasons, his selection seemed like a bit of a miss by the Chargers high in the draft.
However, the 2025 season seems to have brought out the best version of him. Through the first five weeks of the season, he was wildly productive, with 377 yards and four touchdowns to his name on 41 receptions.
Ranking 17th on PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact, he is still the highest-ranked wideout on the roster. However, his season hit a bit of a hurdle in Week 6. A hamstring injury severely hampered his abilities, leading to three consecutive limited-participant designations in practice, ultimately losing Week 6.
Now, for Week 7, he remained limited in Wednesday’s practice. However, Thursday brought some good news for Chargers fans, with Johnston back on the practice field as a full participant.
It sets him up nicely for a return to action against the Colts on Sunday, barring a setback in the coming days. With one more practice scheduled on Friday, it should allow head coach Jim Harbaugh to have a clear idea of where things stand with his wide receiver.
Trying to keep up with an Indianapolis offense that is among the best in the league is going to be a tough task for Los Angeles, particularly with the decimated running back room severely holding them back. As a result, Johnston’s return to the lineup is close to a necessity for them.
