Puka Nacua Injury Update: Latest on the Rams Star After Scary Moment in Week 6 vs. Ravens

Things look bleak for the Los Angeles Rams after what seems like a catastrophic injury to their superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua in Week 6.

The Los Angeles Rams are trying to build a legitimate Super Bowl contender, making a plethora of moves in the offseason to ensure they are an elite unit on both sides of the football. One key change from previous years was in the wide receiver unit. After years of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua handling key responsibilities, the team elevated the latter to the WR1 role while replacing Kupp with Davante Adams.

Through five weeks, that experiment was giving perfect results, with Nacua looking like the unquestioned best wide receiver in the entire league. However, a Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens may prove to be disastrous for both Nacua and the Rams by extension.

What Happened to Puka Nacua?

Early in the second quarter, it seems like a simple play gone wrong. Trying to haul in a touchdown with a tough catch, Nacua was met in the air by Marlon Humphrey. As both men crashed to the ground, it was clear that things weren’t alright.

Immediately clutching his left leg, Nacua appeared to be in a world of bother. As he did not get up for quite some time, he was ultimately helped off the field, with two people helping him with their shoulders.

The Rams announced Nacua has suffered a foot injury and he is questionable to return against the Ravens.

Nacua’s Fantasy Outlook

Few things are a worse sight for fantasy managers than the best WR in fantasy on the ground. Nacua was on his way to another stellar effort before going down. For what it’s worth, Nacua seems to suffer a season-ending injury every game before ultimately returning. Hopefully, this is the same.

If Nacua cannot return, Davante Adams becomes a WR1. He had at least two, arguably three drops in the first half, but he’s still a top player. He should get it together. With Tutu Atwell inactive, Jordan Whittington would serve as the WR2. He might be worth a speculative add, as he has had stretches of fantasy relevance in the past.

Through five weeks, Nacua led the NFL in receptions by 11, distancing himself from the pack in a meaningful way while winning at every level. In fact, entering Week 6, his 7.15 receptions per game since entering the league trailed only CeeDee Lamb with his 92.85 receiving yards per game over that stretch, trailing only Justin Jefferson.

No matter how you slice it, he’s been as productive as anyone at the position from the moment he stepped into a professional field.
