Puka Nacua Blames Taylor Swift for Chiefs’ Loss

Nacua is enjoying a breakout season and currently ranks No. 1 on PFSN’s WR Impact. While his on-field actions are being praised, off the gridiron, he recently appeared on a livestream with popular streamers Adin Ross and N3on, which is now turning fans against him.

During the livestream, the Rams star said and did several things that placed him at the center of controversy. From the so-called “Jewish dance” to his offensive comments about the NFL’s part-time officials, clips from the stream have gone viral, with fans openly criticizing his careless behavior.

One of Nacua’s controversial remarks was directed at pop icon Swift, who was in attendance for the Chiefs’ Week 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.  The Chiefs suffered a 16–13 loss, a defeat that ended their playoff hopes and marked their first time missing the postseason since 2014.

While Chiefs fans were disappointed by the loss, Nacua poked fun at the situation by suggesting the team fell victim to the “Swift curse.”

“I don’t feel like they ran the ball well,” Nacua said. “Pacheco was their running back right.  I feel like he played really good. It’s gotta be the Swift curse. They ran out of the juice.”

Although the 24-year-old wide receiver seemingly meant the comment as humor, many fans took offense, especially Swift’s massive fan base.

Nacua Releases an Apology for His Actions

The most controversial moment of the livestream came when Ross asked Nacua to rehearse a dance step for the future touchdown celebrations. While Nacua appeared unaware at the time, fans later pointed out that the gesture resembled an antisemitic stereotype. Following the backlash, Nacua acknowledged the issue and issued a public apology on social media.

“When I appeared the other day on a social media livestream, it was suggested to me to perform a specific movement as part of my next touchdown celebration. At the time I had no idea this act was antisemitic in nature and perpetuated harmful stereotypes against Jewish people. I deeply apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions as I do not stand for any form of racism, bigotry or hate of another group of people,” Nacua wrote.

As one of the league’s rising stars, Nacua faces amplified reactions from fans both on and off the field. Regardless of his on-field success, his recent situation serves as a reminder that high-profile players must remain mindful of their words and actions, as off-field controversies can quickly overshadow performance on the gridiron.
