Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is one of the most heavily scrutinized players in the NFL. Many fans outside of Philadelphia view him as a system quarterback who benefits from a strong running game and elite surrounding talent.
Eagles fans, however, see him as one of the league’s top signal-callers. Recently, Hall of Famer Peyton Manning weighed in on the ongoing debate and shared his thoughts on Hurts.
Peyton Manning Praises Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts
The Philadelphia Inquirer recently sat down with the Hall of Fame quarterback to get his thoughts on the Tush Push as it continues to be a huge topic of discussion around the NFL. While he shared his thoughts on the Tush Push, Manning also recounted a conversation he and Hurts had two weeks after the most recent Super Bowl.
During that conversation, the two discussed how Hurts can improve and become a better quarterback. Manning shared what that conversation continues to prove to him about Hurts.
“I ran basically the same offense my whole career in Indianapolis and Denver, and that’s a lot of reps with the same play over and over again against each defense. So you never stop learning. And Jalen is still a young player, and the fact that he’s going all-in trying to learn and trying to master the cerebral part, I think it’s just a great quality.”
He added, “I just like the way that he carries himself. So I’ve always been in his corner and a big fan, and he didn’t have to win a Super Bowl to prove anything to me. But the fact that he did it just tells you that he can do it, and I think he can continue to do it again.”
Manning’s comments show exactly why Hurts is such a respected leader in Philadelphia. Leadership in the NFL goes far beyond highlight plays or eye-popping stats; it’s about preparation, consistency, and the drive to keep getting better. Hurts continues to show that every week, and hearing that kind of praise from one of the smartest quarterbacks to ever play the game speaks volumes.
According to the PFSN QB impact scale, Hurts has a score of 83.8, earning him a B grade so far this season. Given the inconsistencies he’s had this year, some fans might consider that a generous grade. In 2022, Hurts finished the year with a B Grade on the QB impact scale.
That season, he completed 66.5% of his passes (306/460) for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. So far this season, he has completed 70.2% of his passes (151/215) for 1,677 yards, 15 touchdowns, and one interception. Though his stats l are passablew in 2025, watching him on a game-to-game basis can be a challenge soemtimes.
At just 27 years old, Hurts continues to show that his growth is far from over. If there’s one thing Peyton Manning understands better than most, it’s that the best quarterbacks never stop learning or finding ways to improve.
