Patriots WR Depth Chart: Breaking Down New England’s New-Look Receiver Room After Romeo Doubs’ Addition

The Patriots add Romeo Doubs to reshape their WR room, pairing him with Drake Maye as New England builds a new-look passing attack.

The New England Patriots are reshaping their wide receiver room, and the addition of Romeo Doubs signals a clear shift in offensive identity. Fresh off a productive run with the Green Bay Packers, Doubs arrives as a polished route runner who projects as a natural fit in offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels’ timing-based system. With Drake Maye entering a pivotal season, the Patriots’ revamped receiving corps could play a major role in elevating the passing attack in 2026.

WR 1 | Romeo Doubs

The new kid on the block.

Doubs is joining the Patriots on a four-year contract in free agency. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth $70 million. The former Green Bay Packers receiver should get his fair share of touches on an offense that will likely be in the playoff hunt more often than not.

In 2025, Doubs, like Diggs, led his wide receiver room in receptions by a solid margin. Catching passes from quarterback Jordan Love, Doubs hauled in 55 balls for 724 yards and six scores (77.9 PFSN WR Impact).

How he handles not being the only star in the wide receiver room next season remains to be seen.

WR 2 | Kayshon Boutte

Kayshon Boutte was one of the surprise contributors on the Patriots’ roster in 2025. A sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, he produced a solid season, catching 33 passes for 551 yards and 6 touchdowns. He excelled in the postseason, recording nine receptions for 168 yards and one touchdown.

Entering his age-24 season, Boutte is expected to continue developing and could emerge as a top receiving option for Maye. According to PFSN Metrics, Boutte posted an 81.5 WRi last season, ranking No. 18 in the NFL.

WR 3 | Mack Hollins

Mack Hollins was a very reliable complementary piece to Diggs last season. After bouncing around the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders, and others, he found his place in Boston. Booking one of the best years of his career in 2025, he put up 46 catches for 550 yards and two touchdowns.

He’s only set to become a free agent in 2027, offering him a chance to fill another supporting role on the roster in 2026. With Doubs now also on the team, Hollins could see more opportunities next season as defenses should open up more.

WR 4 | DeMario Douglas

Douglas, another receiver from the 2023 NFL Draft, has also been productive. He is coming off a season with 31 receptions for 447 yards and 3 touchdowns. While Douglas does not project as a WR1, he is a valuable asset in the slot.

Douglas is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will look to prove he deserves a significant extension. Players in contract years often deliver breakout performances, motivated by their future prospects.

Departing | Stefon Diggs

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Patriots are releasing veteran Stefon Diggs at the start of the new NFL league year on March 11. He joined the team ahead of the 2025 campaign on a three-year, $63.5 million contract.
