With TreVeyon Henderson leaving Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road, it has put more pressure on the other New England Patriots running backs at this time.
Henderson had been putting up some good numbers in the road game, but he ended up leaving the game in the third quarter.
Who’s Left In Patriots RB Room?
Henderson had totaled 10 carries for 83 yards and one touchdown against Tampa Bay, along with a nifty long touchdown run.
But New England has some trouble at the running back position. Besides Henderson being out now, the Patriots are also without Rhamondre Stevenson. Henderson, though, did return to the game.

New England head coach Mike Vrabel now has to turn to D’Ernest Johnson and possibly DeMario Douglas to take up the slack without those two backs on the field. The Patriots held a 21-16 lead over Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers in the fourth quarter at Raymond James Stadium.
The Arizona Cardinals previously had the worst running back situation in the NFL. After this week, it might very well be the Patriots. Already down Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, the Patriots lost both Henderson and Terrell Jennings against the Bucs.
Someone has to play running back for this team. If Henderson and Jennings are out, and Stevenson isn’t ready to return, D’Ernest Johnson stands alone as the last healthy member of this backfield.
Johnson would be picked up on the Week 11 waiver wire simply because someone has to carry the ball, but don’t expect anything more than high single-digit fantasy points.
According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Henderson has a 73.9 RB Impact Score and grades out to a C. As for Stevenson, he has a 62.2 RB Impact Score and grades out to a D-. Of course, those numbers are not good, and Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will have to count on other resources on offense as the game against Tampa Bay rolls along.
Henderson, who played his college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, was a second-round draft choice (No. 38 overall) by the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft. Entering Sunday’s game, Henderson had 67 carries for 283 yards and one touchdown.
With him getting back into the game, though, Maye hopes that he can stay healthy for the rest of Sunday’s contest. Henderson has been viewed as a player who can enhance the New England run game. Vrabel sure hopes that Henderson can contribute a little more here.
