Delane, who had a standout career at Virginia Tech before shining for LSU in 2025, arrives with the responsibility of taking over the team’s starting cornerback position, filling the gaps left by the departures of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
PFSN’s NFL Draft HQ rated Delane as the best cornerback among the available players and 9th overall in the draft, with a grade of 89.88. See below for a detailed analysis from our Scouting Report.
“Mansoor Delane leaves the 2025 season as an almost four-year starter at the collegiate level, and he saved his best for last. In 2025, Delane amassed two INTs and 11 pass breakups, while earning the highest CB Impact score in the entire class, with a figure of 96.8. On top of that Impact score, Delane limited opposing QBs to a 26.7 passer rating per TruMedia, and he also boasts an insane forced incompletion percentage of 31.8%, and allows a reception just once every 26.8 coverage snaps.”
“Delane is as lockdown as lockdown gets in coverage, and it’s a product of his experience, coverage mobility, inherent technical versatility, playmaking propensity, and football IQ. At 6-foot, 187 pounds, Delane is a fast and fluid mover with great vertical speed, effortless stride variation and sink, and brisk recalibrative twitch. He has boundary-nickel flexibility, and is a formidable presence on crack-and-replace blocks in run support.”

Playing for LSU in the SEC, Delane posted impressive stats as a “shutdown corner.” According to Sports Reference, the cornerback was targeted just once every 10 passing plays, allowing only 10 receptions on 36 attempts against him.
By investing three picks (including a first-rounder) to move up to the 6th overall pick, head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach believe Delane will be the key piece to keeping the defense at a championship level.
