During the Chicago Bears-Los Angeles Rams NFC Divisional Round matchup, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made a throw reminiscent of something you’d see from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On X, Mahomes posted his reaction to the throw.
Bears QB Caleb Williams Makes A Jaw-Dropping Throw
Down 17-10 with 26 seconds to go on the clock, Williams, on fourth down with four yards to go, dropped back to pass. He was met with pressure soon after, forcing him backwards.
He was lined up in shotgun at the 19-yard line (the line of scrimmage was at the 14-yard line), and before throwing the ball, he ran backwards to about the 40-yard line before heaving up a pass to tight end Cole Kmet to the back-left of the end zone for a touchdown.
It was truly one of the most unbelievable throws you’ll ever witness, despite the Bears’ loss in overtime, 20-17.
As mentioned, after watching it, you’d immediately liken it to a pass we’ve seen from Mahomes.
NO WAY. CALEB WILLIAMS HEAVES IT ON 4TH DOWN.

On X, Mahomes posted a simple three-emoji and one-word response: “awesome!” with three laughing face emojis before the word.
🤣🤣🤣 awesome!

Mahomes and the Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time this year since the 2014-15 season. The Chiefs ranked 17th in PFSN’s Offense Impact score with a 74.3 mark. Not only that, but just a few weeks before the end of the regular season, Mahomes tore his ACL.
Here’s a fun fact related to Mahomes and the Bears: In 2017, the year Mahomes was drafted, the Bears held the No. 2 overall pick. Instead of selecting Mahomes, they opted for current Buffalo Bills backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
The Bears have been sensational in clutch situations this season. They had six fourth-quarter, game-winning drive comebacks and also did the same last week in the Wild Card round against the Green Bay Packers, winning that game 31-27. Williams threw for 361 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in that game.
As mentioned, the Rams ultimately won the game and now head out on the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks.
From there, the winner will advance to Super Bowl 60 and face the winner of the New England Patriots-Denver Broncos AFC Championship. Of course, the Broncos are without starting quarterback Bo Nix, who broke his ankle in their win over the Buffalo Bills.
Regardless of the loss, Williams has come up clutch again and again, and that will be a throw to remember.
